The Hide Safari Lodge...

We took the photos in the Slide Show (left) during a 3 day stay at "The Hide" Safari Lodge which is a very comfortable, tented safari camp inside the Hwange National Game Park.

Hwange National Park is the largest game reserve in Zimbabwe. It supports an abundance of game. The park is named after the African chief Hwange.

Hwange National Park has the second highest number of mammals of any national park in the world - a record 108 species! There are also over 400 recorded species of birds.
On our way to South Africa, we stopped off a few days to visit Kirby Reed (a young man from our congregation who was doing a medical internship at a mission hospital (Chidamoyo Hospital) in Northern Zimbabwe. Kirby's work there was pimarily as a Lab Tech. but he soon found himself delivering babies, treating cobra bites and a host of other unrelated tasks.

Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe

Victoria Falls is on the Zambizi River and is one of the most spectacular natural wonders of the world.

Locals call it "Mosi-oa-Tunya"
(The Smoke that Thunders).

The falls is 1.7 kilometers (1 mile) wide, making it the widest sheet of falling water in the world. It drops 108 meters (360 ft) into the deepest point of the Zambezi Gorge and puts out a staggering 452,000 tons of water per second at its maximum flow rate.

The mist from the falls is so heavy and spreads so far that it has created it's own rain forest.
